With few revision papers available for use this is another 19th Century Fiction Paper based on the novel 'Lost Hearts' by M R James. the resource includes a mark scheme and indicative content. This extract is a ghostly tale and a good one to use for analysis of tension/setting rather than characterisation. This is a very accessible paper and would be useful practise for both KS3 students doing a 'Supernatural' Unit of work or for KS4 lower ability to build confidence.

A detailed powerpoint working through each stanza analysing form, language and structure through a combination of given information and activities. Differentiated activities are included in the powerpoint and a supported framework has been included for a typical exam style essay question. This should be everything you need to teach this poem with no need for additional work/slides.

An in depth study of Act 3 of Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'. This is designed for GCSE teaching and includes a range of activities including: guided extract analysis, creative activities (Shakespearean Mannequin Challenge!), links to Transactional Writing on the Language specification, prompts to consider structure and structural devices, clozed activities and a range of extension tasks for more able students. This is 6-8 hours of teaching and includes everything students need to know for their exams in an accessible and fun format.

This activity uses 'Fallen Puzzles' to engage students in a High Order Revision Activity, which is fun and challenging, but due to the nature of the High Order will support longer term retention of these quotations in preparation for the exam. This is accessible for KS3 and KS4 and has been designed with the Holocaust Memorial Day in mind as an apt activity during that week, although this would prove to be useful practice and revision at any time of the year too. This response is designed for use with the Cambridge International iGCSE (UK and US) and is equally suitable to use with a Key stage 3 or 4 group to build on their reading skills, analytical skills and response writing skills. This resource includes the PDF of the short story and offers a complete route through this narrative set in 1960s South Africa, as such this would be an ideal text to draw on for Black History Month (October) too. This resource introduces students to a range of language and structural devices required in their Edexcel IGCSE examination, however, this resource is also suited for any teachers looking for an extract on which to practise these skills. Learning is scaffolded through analysis of short phrases and sections from the whole extract to enable students to feel secure in their GCSE level analysis. This resource includes a powerpoint and a homework task so that learning can go beyond the classroom. The tasks are designed so that students gain confidence before attempting individual tasks and the lesson includes talk time and time when students can annotate the text on the whiteboard if you have this facility. My students find these resources hugely helpful in accessing higher grades and have historically done very well in their final exams, approaching them with confidence and a wide range of understanding in regard to methods used. Students are continually prompted to update their records and recall methods to help embed this information in their long term memory.
